Removing Alternator?
I am removing my alternator, and I am going to run 2 batteries. What do you do with the wire running to the alternator:?: Also how do you run cables from battery to battery? I have 2 battery mounts built in to the car that are only about 2 feet apart. Only the fuel cell separates the 2.

Positive to positive on batteries then from one positive to disconnect.
Both grounds can attach straight to the chassis.
Why are you not using the alternator? I've never seen a loss in ET with one.

Sorry about the size but maybe this will help.
I'm guessing your reffering to the large wire coming off the alternator that goes to the battery?
Trace it back into the wire loom, cut and wrap with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing.
On the diagram, main power lead returning to front of car will connect back to the starter solenoid as well as your control panel ie.... ARC or painless wiring box. Either of these should be fused for each individual sw.

The reason I am removing the alternator is, I am replacing the water pump with an electric pump. The brackets necessary to remount the alternator will not fit this type of pump. I have tried a low mount and it does not have the clearance needed, I have tried a header type mount and it interferes with my breather tank. Any other suggestions, as I would prefer to keep the alternator.

Not sure what pump you have or if it's a SBC, BBC or?????

Shogun industries makes a slick little mini racing aternator, I ran one for years on my 73 nova bbc w/ electric water pump, its tiny and can be moutned on either the right or left side hand of a block and fits sbc as well as bb's
