Default Another horse in the stable

My son just bought a 88 Mustang coupe X Florida patrol car. It was originally ordered as an unmarked black car. The seller didn't realize that it was a X patrol car till my son asked me why it stated police on the title. It's a nice street car with a 347 and about 400 hp. Runs 11's 1/4 mile times. Heres a link to the ad on auto trader where we found the car. I couldn't post the pics. My son posted some pics on,

COBRA..this car brings back good memories for me..i was a law enforcment officer back in the mid/late 80's ( city 1st and finished with state)...i drove a marked crown vic..anyhow i had a guy running from me one day on a motorcycle within the city ( very tight streets etc)...he made his way toward the interstate..i called dispatch and had them alert highway patrol..s.c. highway patrol was using the 5.0 mustangs at that time...anyhow as i turn onto the interstate behind the motorcylce he was gassing me bad,,he was going over a hill as i was toping the one behind him...as i came over the last hill and looked about 1/4 mile up the road i saw two 5.0 marked mustangs sitting on each side of the median waiting for the motorcycle to get to them.....man they came out of the median " balls to the wall;...the bike was running 130+ and the mustangs ran up on him and passed him..one got in front of him and one behind him.....the bike stopped..
a few years later i went on with the state trooper and the mustangs where fazed out and the firebirds were brought in...
i did get a chance to ride with a fellow officer one evening in his marked mustang..( having fun)....about 3:00 am in the morning...a stretch of I-85 Between Anderson and Greenville S.C....We started and he never lifted his foot off the the floor in that mustang for about 20-30 miles...i DO NOT KNOW how fast we were running but the broken painted lines on the road was a SOLID WHITE line and the concrete retainer walls on each side of us seemd like it was squeeing in to where it looked wide enough to drive one car thru.....

anyhow...these little stangers will really run..they are made to run all out on the highway,,if your son changes gears in this stang it will really pick up in the 1/4 mile.

ohh yeah the polcie interceptor verison has more of a beefy chassis for turning around in medians and the normal abuse these cars take each day.
