CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO GO ABOUT LOCATING A MUSTANG I SOLD BACK I 1999 ALL I KNOW IS THE GUY LIVES IN BERKLEY,IL. I LOST THE BILL OF SALE, BUT I STILL HAVE MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE PAPERS. I TRIED CAREFAX IT'S NO USE, AND THE DMV WILL NOT GIVE UP PERSONEL RECONDS ON CARS, BUT COOK COUNTY WILL SHOWW ANYONE YOUR TAX RECORDS AND PERSONEL INFO ON THE BIGGEST ASSET YOUR HOUSE.. I WOULD BE EXTREMELY GREATFULL IF ANYONE COULD GET ME THE CURRENT ADDRESS WHERE THE CAR IS REGISTERED....WHAT I NEED IS A POLICE OFFICER THAT WILL RUN THE INFO FOR ME.

I am sure there are about 1 million Mustangs in IL.

I personally cannot help, but you give very little info for anyone to go by.
What year is it?

When was it last titled and in what county etc.

Just to say Mustang is like asking to find my dog...see what I mean?

Since you have the VIN number, take that to your local police Dept. They should be able to run a check and find your car if it is in your State. If it's out of State then you have to get some help from somebody to get the reports out of State. That's what I found out when I was trying to find a car I had. My car was out of my State and I couldn't get any more help or info.

ALREADY THAUGHT OF THAT, IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANY POCLICE STATION TO RUN A VIN WITHOUT FILING A POLICE REPORT WITH JUST CAUSE. THEY CAN'T SIMPLY RUN ANY VIN NUMBER JUST CAUSE THEY WANT TO.
MY UNCLE IS A SHERRIF, AND HE CAN'T EVEN DO IT WITHOUT GETTING IN TROUBLE.

NICE TRY ANY OTHER IDEAS

Ever thought of trying that VIN search thing like when you buy a used car? Might give up current owner. Be worth a try, I'd thing. All you need is a VIN as far as I know.
