    I have Used This for the last 13 years with "0" Failures

    Spur gear oil pumps,on every engine before beat me,with broken pick-up tubes and cavatation,and engine damage

    This was the best money I ever spent on a race engine,next to nitrous, :P :P :P

    I agree with Topsportsman.

    I agree with the many that see this as a lot of money to spend on an oil pump when a Melling or Melling knock-off or Moroso spur gear racing pump works fine. But!

    To spend several hundred as a one time expense to have insurance and to know you have the bet oil pump made in your race engine is not so much money. How much did you say you have in your Poor - Boy motor?: Why take the chance when you buy this for only one time and it is forver rebuildable.

    I think right around 400.00

    Some think oil pump are all the same,spur gear oil pumps were designed for street car use,not for racing applications,as a spur gear pump will start to cavatate above 5500 rpm's.And you all know what air in the oil will do.

    Good information for sure!!!!!

    Like alot of people I thought a hi volume pump and I was covered...never even considered what might happen at high rpm, and cavitation.

    Looks like I might even be looking at getting one of these, $400.00 is a small price to pay considering the cost of an engine.

    i have purchased a billet oil pump for my block and did not know that
    they have a built in pick up so you can't go wrong, mine is by
    cvs and it was $350., but it will give me insurance on all the good
    parts in my block :wink:

    Tom, you're right on the price. I just ordered one yesterday then just saw this thread. As you know I just rebuilt my motor after having the front crank seal spring break. When pulling the main bearings it looked like water had gotten in them from a lack of vacuum due to the bad seal but the more I thought about it the more I wondered about cavitation so I bought the Titan pump along with a Jeff Johnston pan.

    Do you have a source for the 5500 rpm figure for cavitation? I always wondered where the danger zone was. I currently run the Melling M77HV up about 7200 or so. Sure makes you wonder.

    I have used these pumps and pans for over 13 years with "0" failures.

    In the past using spur gear pumps it has cost me a fortune in engines.

    George I am sure you are heading in the right direction with the new pan and pump,I am sure you will get great service out of them as well as longevitivy of your high priced engine.Long Live The BBC,LOL
    Good luck and a very smart move.You'll be impressed with the worksmanship of the pan and pump.

    If you need any info George I'd be more than happy to talk to you.George,did you get the pan with the check balls,or the trap doors?

    Got the ball baffles. Jeff said they work great. I'll find out soon enough. The trap doors I have now in a deep sump pan still lets the oil pressure drop off under hard braking at short tracks. So I'm hoping this will fix that problem as well.

    On my newest engine I got the 2 piece pan with the check balls and the titan sportsman pump,it works awesome
