Default Is this a fair price

Not sure if I should have posted this in the Scammer forum
But I haven't given the Engine Shop the place go ahead yet.
Does this sound like a fair price ?.
1 - Dis-assemble BBC - 454 - 2 bolt with rectangular heads (done)
2 - Machine for 496 cu inches
3 - Install Eagle rods & Eagle 4340 forged crank, ARP bolts
4 - SRP postons with 12.7 compression ratio
5 - New roller chain
6 - Clevite main & cam bearings
7 - Add ARP main studs or bolts (still will be 2-bolt)
8 - Felpro 1010 head gaskets
9 - Balance
10 - Re-assemble using my existing GM 990 cast iron heads
-
He is wanting $4,500.00 for the above.
Is that too high or in the ball park?
Thank for any help or suggestions
I can still take the motor elsewhere.
Just have to pay for the dis-assembly charge.

If that includes the cost of the stroker crank, rods & pistons
that is a smokin good deal, ..

Not bad, but I can get you a complete long block with intake for $4500.00 producing just over 600hp. Dynoed and all.
All you need is water pump, carb and dist.

But for tear down and rebuild I think he is a bit high, especially if you already had most of it to begin with.

What all is included in his machine work?
What parts is he buying?

That's Not high at all for a custom build in a machine shop, ..
at least a good machine shop, ..

you get what you pay for, .. so don't buy this stuff based on price, ..
look into their past history and find out the quality of work they do.
