Default 180 degree crank question

Hi, I'm slightly puzzeld, Bruce Crower mentioned the use of one in an article I read about cam selection/ super tuning for the ram induction inj system....[can am days]

I must have been living under a rock or somthing because i have never heard of this before or are all cranks like this?

I've heard of 180 degree manifolds but that's as far as my knowledge base goes and why I hang out here.

Any takers ?
Thanks

Vernon
