Heavy Car Help
I have a 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery. S&W back half ladder bar car. Weight is around 32/3300 lbs. It has a 460 BB, 630 lift solid cam, 11 to 1 compression, GM aluminum oval port heads, not sure of the cfm. ATI T400 with ATI 5200 stall converter, 9" with 4.56 gears, 14/32 Hoosiers. Right now the car runs 7.70's, 7.80's in the 1/8th. Was set up to run 10.90 super street in the 1/4. I am looking to get this car into the mid 6's or better. Trying to get the right combination for the heavy car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Something is not right. I have a nova around 3200lbs that with a 9.5 to 1 454 shifting a 5500 with 26x10 in tires was running 750s. The small block I had I was shifting at 6500 same tire but with a 456 gear was going thru the lights at 62-6300rpm. What are your cam specs?

I did a stall check and it hit right at 5200. The cam I am not sure of as I am only going off of the information from the previous owner. I have a new roller cam I was considering installing but not sure how much difference that would make with current heads and compression. Again from the previous owner the ATI converter only had 8 1/4 mile passes on it.

Leak down test okay. All cylinders are around 92 to 94%. I have no specs on the cam as the previous owner could not give them to me. He claims it to be new. Along with the lifters. Have no idea what the lash is supposed to be so I cet them at 24 intake and 26 exhaust which was within a thou or two from where they were. Maybe just not enough motor for the weight and set up to run 1/8th mile. Going to try and take it to Norwalk for T&T and see how it runs the quarter since installing a box and electric shifter.
