Default bbc camshaft bearings

I am freshening up a bbc with new bearings and gaskets. The problem I am having is with the cam bearings. After installing the new bearings I cannot get the camshaft in. It will go past the first 3 bearings and then not the next 1. I have installed 2 sets of bearings and had a machine shop install a 3rd set. I have tried the original camshaft as well as a new out the box camshaft with the same result.

Any ideas?

I would take the block back to the machine shop with the cam and have them fit it. Have them measure the installed cam bearings with a dial bore gauge to see if it the 4th bearing is too small installed or not.
BBC bearings are 3 different outside diameters. They are marked which number on the bearing goes in which bore in the block. I have heard of having to use a knife to clearance a tight bearing before, but have never had to do it.
