Camshaft help please!
I am running a bbc in a 3800 lb shoe box(1956 chevy wagon)_I run a 10.50 index on motor and have been playing around with a plate system and lately a fogger to just "chase E.T.". My cam shaft is ground on a 106 lobe center and now I want to change the cam to perform better with spray. I currently can run 10.10 on the motor, and am willing to sacrifice 2 to 3 tenths with the new cam. My desire is to add 300 hp with the fogger.
Here is my current combo, GM block 4.350 bore and 9.80 deck, 3/4 filled with hard block. 4 bolt mains with studs, Eagle 4.25 stroke crank, eagle rods w/ L19 bolts. KB premier pistons with 37 cc domes. Hellfire rings gapped .032 top .030 middle. Standard tension oil ring. Heads are 320 cc match ported, 2.19 / 1.88 valves with Vasco springs (250 seat 800 open) titanium retainers and Yella Terra pedestal rockers. Head studs, MLS head gaskets and CR of 12.5 to 1.
The intake is a Edelbrock tunnel with two 800 cfm Holly's ,square jetted.
The current cam has 780 lift (intake and exhaust) w/ 1.7 rockers intake duration 285, ex. 287 lobe center 106.
Do you think my rotating assembly (particularly the pistons) will handle 300 or more nitrous?
Do you think a cam with the same specs but ground on a 112 LC will work with .028/ .032 jets?
Can anyone recommend a "off the shelf" cam that will perform for me both N/A and juiced?
If I have a cam ground should I speed up the exhaust opening? Can I advance the cam and get more benefits for NOS and not hurt my N/A power?
My gears are 4.33 with 32" DOT Mickeys. I currently go through the lights at 6800 running N/A (133 mph) and see 7000 running 9.50 @ 140 mph with my current cam and .028/ .032 tune. Thanks in advance !!!
