If you look closely at it, it's not a whole lot different than the SBC x-ram of the day as I recall. . 1970 saw the elimination of multiple carbs in Trans-Am cars which is why it was developed & is so similiar. It's got a pretty large plenum, which we all know now those manifolds aare generally considered a "top-end" manifold. Would I run it in my car? Yes, if I had good compression (10.5:1 +) and a good cam & about 3:73 gears.
I ahd a x-ram on a 355 SBC years ago & it ran great, so I wouldn't hesitate about playing with a Smokey-Ram for the same reason.....
