We don't use or recommend accusumps for this simple reason. when your pan runs dry the accusump forces oil stored under pressure into the motor.unfortunately the oil pump is pumping massive amounts of air into the oil galley at the same time.the mixture of oil and air mix doesn't supply the hydro dynamic wedge of oil necessary to protect the bearings to make matters worse the oil pressure stays up so there is no warning light or needle drop to alert the driver,first thing the driver hears is a rod leaving the engine.
The solution is to fix the problem with oil return to the crankcase and use the accusump for pre oiling the engine but turn it off before racing so if theres a pressure problem the driver will see it before the loud bang.Bill
