I placed an ad yesterday to try and sell a late model stock car. Since then I have received multiple text messages offering to buy it sight unseen. They said they would send a check, including extra money I'm supposed to use to pay the shipper, since they could not pick it up. They all said they were happy to wait until the check cleared, and one asked me to remove the ad ASAP. None gave a full name or address.

Something smells fishy here. What is the game? I see how they could be scamming the "shipping" fees from me, but once the check has cleared isn't the money mine? And if it doesn't clear, what have I lost, since I'll still have the car?
