The 24 Hours of LeMons, the national endurance racing series for $500 cars, makes its only '09 New England stop on 11-12 July at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut. Over two days of racing, teams take on exploding gaskets, fried alternators, and wild on-track action in order to take home glorious cash prizes—paid out in canvas sacks of nickels. Last year, a rusty Mazda took home the top prize--this year, it could be you!
Hopeful and/or desperate teams need to file their online applications by midnight Saturday, May 2nd. Accepted teams will be notified the following Monday; rejected teams should feel a wave of relief around Tuesday.
