"Going Green" is nothing more than an obfuscation by politicians made to keep you (and most citizens) from seeing/hearing what the real agendas are . . It was phony science, dreamed up back in the 80's by one Michael Mann to gain science grant money for his department . . and it was based upon flawed science then, and facts have been replaced with bad science since then by politicians and con men to benefit themselves individually.
On the other hand, there should be engineers working on long discharge, deep cycle batteries and other technologies to further the personal transportation technologies . .
But at this point (and I'll never see it) they aren't very close . . The very idea that one could charge a battery for 15 minutes and then discharge it while creating torque (and horsepower) for several hours (as a gasoline powered vehicle does now) is like looking for the "Forever free Lunch" . . So far, science (and Nature) has allowed energy output equal to what is put in . . and I don't think that it will change much . .
And the taxpayer shouldn't be obliged to fork over the money needed for research for the "Free lunch" program(s) that the progressives seem to think are out there (or are they just hustling us for the cash?)
I believe, the latter . . .
