I have never seen the need to run a high volume pump on a SBC in a naturally aspirated engine. Unless you are running huge clearances I believe the standard volume pump is plenty. Running a higher volume pump would just bypass more oil and use up more horsepower to run. Pressure is completely different. I do change the spring to have more pressure than what a stock pump has. Usually around 65-70lbs hot pressure at speed. Just my unqualified opinion.
