No worries, sounds like you could have multiple issues from your most recent description. Really shouldn't be that difficult to correct, it's just difficult to give advice about how to repair thses kinds of issues, especially if there are some real mechanical issues that need correcting before you can move on to the next problem.

I can tell you that the distributor will absolutely not cause the lifters to seize. Not sure what modifications you've made other than cam. But if you put a performance cam with any decent amount of lift in your BBC, do not run the stock valve spring or you will flatten the cam lobes. Be sure the top end is oiling properly. What type of cam, lifters, and Valve springs did you use?
