If that combo really went 6.60s in a heavier car, I’d be looking hard at the converter before changing gears. A 4.88 with a Powerglide is already pretty aggressive, and your 1.58 sixty-foot suggests the car isn’t leaving as hard as it probably should.

The 95 mph also seems a little low compared to the ET, which can point to the converter not being happy with the current vehicle weight, tire, or engine characteristics. Before spending money on a gear swap, I’d get some data on launch RPM, flash stall, and trap RPM.

A move to a 4.10 might help if the engine is blowing through the converter or running out of gear, but without RPM data it’s mostly guesswork. If it were mine, I’d verify converter performance first, then decide whether the gear ratio is actually the limiting factor.
