Balancing independence and assistance in in-home care
Supporting an elderly relative at home can be surprisingly complex, especially when they value independence but need assistance with daily tasks. My grandmother has been experiencing decreased mobility and occasional forgetfulness, which makes managing household chores, meal preparation, and medication routines more difficult. I want to help without making her feel dependent or incapable, but it’s tricky to know the right level of intervention. I’m curious how others maintain their loved ones’ dignity while providing necessary care.
