NOS Ford 5.14 Gears... Rare or Not So Rare ???

Found a NOS in the box set of 1960-1963 Ford rear end gears with 5.14 ratio last week. Should I sell them to the first gear head I bump into or is there a niche group of guys out there who'd really appreciated the old parts ?

Thanks in advance,
Ramblin Randy

NOS 'in box'...Any part numbers? How 'bout a pic or two of the box and gears/numbers ? We LIKE to solve puzzle's here !

Yep we got pics and part numbers.

Stamped into gear: WAB 4210 F
Stamped into pinion: 4610 H
Written on Box: WAB 4209 E ( gear set 5.14 ratio )

My reference is a google book page for the book "FOOORRD PERFORMANCE GUIDE" and on page 94 there's the following:

WAB 4209 E
60-63 Differential Gear and Pinion Set
5.14 to 1 (352 and 390 engines)

The fellow who owned these is long gone and am told back in the day he liked things that ran really fast. The photo of the gears had bad lighting and I'll redo it after lunch time...

Here's some added mystry, these shims were in the box with the gears. There's 12 shims but they don't line up with the holes in the ring gear. No markings on the Ford envelope either. Is there a way to size these up and find out what they might fit ? ( ran out of time today will grab the photo of the gears in the morning )

nos

The shims are pinion support spacers to adjust the pinion gear depth. Standard depth was 1.031" from the centerline of the axle and standard shim was .020'. It would be etched into the back end of the pinion gear on aftermarket sets.

why is the part # hand written on the box? never have seen nos parts that were in hand writting.and not sticker or printed labels.not trying to get anything started buddy, just really kinda wantin to know.been in the parts buuisness onand off for 30 yrs. i like to get to the bottom of things. but 5.14 were not a option. they ccould be ordered for you but they didint have a box that said place x here for this # of ring and pinion size.you got my interest up big time lol

That deep a gear, could they have been for an 'industrial' application ? Truck or something that had to move pretty darn slow ?
