555 Combo Thoughts/Opinions...
I'm putting together a 555 for my hardtail dragster.
Callies rotator w/ Ross pistons. (CR is an actual 14.56) .043 ring package RM 420-116 Cam (284/298 - .808/.765 on a 112) BB2X Heads ( They have some work done but dont have any flow numbers....Int Runner measures out at 350) I'm stuck on the intake decision, and if this cam is the right grind?? I have an 1150 to use. I'll most likely run VP112 The car is a 230" HT, weighs 1847 with an alum headed bbc and 200lb driver. 4.10 gear, 33.5x17x16 tire, and a 6100 converter. Thoughts? Criticisms? Predictions? Thanks in advance! Rick |

Another option on the intake is also the Merlin X. I'm testing one now and the results are not only pretty good, but very surprising......Just another option.....

You can't go wrong with a Edelbrock Victor R . You may be able to use a Super Victor with a light car like yours.
I like Brodix heads but not so much their intakes. |
Thanks for the input everyone. This is a tall deck, so should I use spacers or get a td specific manifold? Dom top or 4150 with an adapter?
I assume the Edelbrock 454TD is the same as the R, just for a tall deck, and the Brodix 2027 is for a tall deck also? David, I was curious as to whether the converter was going to be loose enough also. I can only go by what I was told as to the stall speed. This particular converter was behind a 540, and went 6100. I read good things about that cam, so Im happy to read your thoughts on it. The battery on this car is in front of the footbox. I did get a weight plate with it, but I think its only 15 lbs or so. Thanks again, Rick |

Thanks again, Rick Get the tall deck intake with a 4500 top, thats your best bet for power and you wont have to deal with spacers. Correct on the part #'s. Your Ive ran that cam in several engines and it works great. Converter will still work good, hopefully you will loosen it up touch with more power then the 540 it was behind. |
Thanks for the input David, appreciate it.

David, would you run that cam at 112 or advance it a bit to a 109/10?

David is dead on. We had the same combo except Canfield 355 heads. Ran the same cam at 110. Had it is a swingarm car that was 1925lbs. Car ran 4.90 and 7.80/90.
