headers 78 chevy truck

i have a 78 ton truck bbc and realy need a set of fenderwell headers or something that wont melt my plug boots. I have put dei plug wrap on them and everything but they keep melting the boots and shorting out on the header. just wondering if or who makes them or if it is to hard to weld up your own

If you are using DEI header wrap, take it off and put on the DEI Protect-A-Boot. Also check you fuel/air ratio - you might be running lean.

it is the plug boot and im just having to close header to plug clearance

If you are using the straight boots on the wires get a set of wires with 90 degree boots and run them under the header if you have room to do that.

Headers

Back when school buses had BBC engines they had special sets of plug wires for the problem. They were straight with metal tubes surrounding them. You might look at your local parts store and see if yoiu can get a pic to see if they would help. I think they were longer than regular straight boots and had ribs that the metal tube fit on.

Other wise the 90 degree under header is a good way to try to go.

90's under the header still hit but the metal tubes might be the thing to use we will try it thanks guys
