is the caterpillar 3126 motor , good or junk
 

looking at buying a toterhome witha cat 3126 with allison 6 speed auto trans. it has 100,000 miles on it . I thought cat was the best motor you could buy , but it seem like if you own one its going to cost you big time. if you have one tell me the good and bad , should I stay away from buying this ? wanting to travil the U.S.A. give me the good and bad thanks

Ok two thing's on this engine-trans,

1] Check the oil make sure it is not loaded with diesel, If so the rings are shot :!:

2] Check the trans fluid make sure it isn't burn't :!:

Otherwise this is a great combo.

1st thing take an oil sample to cat, have them check it, if thats a go put it on a truck dyno this will answer all your questions.
