Help with what 400 turbo and shifter are worth...
Hey guys I just got a Nova on trade for my dragster that has a 400 Turbo in it.
I am going to sell the turbo but am trying to figure out what its worth. It has a JW ultrabell on it with an aluminum deep pan. BTE gearset with a transbrake and reverse shift pattern. Motor was built to handle a 1200 horse blown 540 and has a handful of shakedown runs on it. I also have the shifter which is a quarter stick or pro stick with the ACD dual air cyl shifter and control box that can shift it at 2 dif rpms with the bottle and all. I was told that the trans should be worth 1200 or so and the complete shifter set up should be worth about 500. I have no use for it, but wanted to see what you guys thought before I put it up for sale. Heres a pic of the Nova. http://static.racingjunk.com/63/ui/1...4553457514.jpg |
Trans
The price sounds about right to me. One factor could be the recert date on the ultrabell. I think they have to be recerted every three years. Not sure about that but if it's overdue it decreases it's worth. Still a good price though.

Why in the world would you want to get rid of it???
You'll have to spend a lot more than what you get for it to get a PG built to hold the same power. |
i agree why wanna sell, is it having a traction issue getting out of the hole? i ran a 1.23 short time with my transbraked 400 with et streets nitrous right off the transbrake and not a prob

I appreciate the input but I already have a motor and trans to put in the car. My 408 SBC and glide. I run s/st on the 10.90 index and the turbo isnt consistent enough. If my 60 foot varies .003 its a bad day. I was 1.880 - 1.882 over 6 rounds yesterday on the throttle stop. It will 60 in the 1.42 - 1.44 range when I run it all out.

Josh, you might try given Dion a call. I am sure he can tell you what it was new to build and get you ball park on the trans. He also gets calls for guys looking for used stuff. He might be able to get the word out for you.
