396 to 427 ???
 

I've often heard that you can bore a pre 1972 396 to a 4.25 with no problems because the 396 and 427 in those early years came out of the same cast ?? Any truth to that ?

Yes you can I know a guy that did it, but I'm not sure which blocks you can do it with. I'd have it sonic checked first to be safe.

If memory serves me right it was the blocks with an IE or IF stamping. But like Tod said, have it sonic checked first.
