CAL TRACS QUESTION

OK I have a 72 nova mono leaf with ladders, last race I bent the shit out my springs I just ordered Cal tracs and split mono leaf from them, everything is suposed to be bolt in, how or what do you reccomend for setting the pre-load on these, and do they really work, will they keep me from bending my springs again on launch?

You will eventually bend the springs, but give it a few years.

when I ran mine, I didn't put any preload into them. I just barely touched them to the top of the spring. Make sure you get someone about your wieght sitting in the car on the drivers side. Then adjust them accordingly to the track conditions. I never noticed any difference with preloading or not preloading, just make sure they are both sides adjusted the same.

on real high horse power cars, the cal tracs can also bend in the pre load area, i've heard that some guys go thru a couple pair a year

Well cheapseat, I'm sure you were depressed after reading the responses!

Good luck with your project!!

They do work well. A friend of mine has a set on his 74 Nova. bbc injected big turbo on gas, 3700lbs, basically stock suspension, drag radials, only certed to 8.50, ran 8.09 @ 172 last fall in Vegas....no kiddin'!!

Yes, they work well, but hard on springs.

Just an update after installing the new cal tracs with there split mono springs my 60 foot went from 1.72 ish to 1.61 ish lifts the front end only about 12 inches or so and straight as an arrow. It was money well spent i am a firm believer.
