did you guys figure out what caused the boom and then fire?

MEMRACING62 06-08-2009 07:49 PM

WOW, DID THE FIRE START IN THE CAB? SEEN A CAR GO UP BEFORE FROM OLD NON FUSED WIRES GOING TO A STEREO BEHIND A SEAT AND RUNNING UNDER CARPET.

I am trusting this was a street truck and not an uninsured race vehicle. I have always heard to let a vehicle fire burn to the ground. If someone is quick enough to put it out, the smell and wiring problems will last forever.

Sorry for your loss, Dave

I'm pretty sure that aint gonna buff out.

Sucks. I know a guy who lost a car on the way to the track cause an aluminum fuel line brokew and caught the motor on fire. All he saved off the car was one rim.

I fixed one burnt car in my 35 years of fixing cars. A 1981 Grand Prix. All was going well until I found the computer wiring harness. That was my first experience and the last. As far as the smell, I gutted the car completely, I mean everything and took it to a power wash and pressure washed all the air flow areas, cowl, everything I could wash and never got rid of the smell. I told the person I sold it to the previous owner was a fireman and that is why it smelled. (Just kidding)! Told them it had a slight overheating problem. (got ya again).
