Holley 4412 info needed

I have a holly 4412 on my 355 circle track car. The emulshun (spelling) tubes are saturating the throttle plates at idle. This in turn is fouling the plugs. At one point during the engine warm up, only one was saturating the plate but after reving it up a few times, they both were saturating the plates. What is causing this and what to do to fix it?

Actually, they may not be called emulsion tubes, but they are the aluminum pieces above the throttle plates that add fuel to the carb.

check youre fuel pressure, stay around 6 psi to start. next check youre fuel level at the site plug, if it is too high it will be looking to go somewhere. check the idle airbleeds are not clogged, and last, the power valve could be busted, especially if it has ever poped (back fired)thru the carb during warm-up. did you get it figured out? Kris

dgordner 04-10-2009 08:55 AM

No I haven't got it figure out yet. I no longer feel it is a fuel problem. I think it is electrical. The engine is missing when holding it around 3500 to 4500 rpm. It isn't smooth. Bad thing is there are no areas around for me to do any testing other than on the track.

I have that same prob, no testing area. I've a virgin 200 mph capable car and it's waaaay too noisy to even take out into farm country without giving heart attacks to the local livestock.

did you put in a fresh set of plugs, gas fouled plugs are not wortha snit most of the time when you clean them w/ a wirebrush. Is this a fresh motor or ??? Kris

Yep, two sets of plugs. One thing I am noticing is that 3 and 4 plugs are burning white while the others are burning light to dark choc. brown. I am running the 4412 two barrel on a wodden type adapter on a victor junior 4 barrel intake. the wodden type adapter has slots in it where the carb can be positioned front to rear if need be. Could I have a problem here? also, I am running #80 jets in the carb.
