what gear or trans
I WENT TO TRACK FINALLY.
MY TRUCK WENT 11.67 @ 115 HAD A 1.65 60 FOOT AND A 7.50 1/8 TH AND CROSSED FINISH LINE AT 6250RPM'S SHOULD I KEEP THE POWERGLIDE AND INCREASE THE GEAR RATIO FROM 4.10 WITH A 28 TIRE I LIKE GOING THRU AT 6800 RPM OR SHOULD I JUST SLAP A 350TURBO IN IT. IM RUNNING A 4200 CONVERTER.. IVE BEEN TOLD TO KEEP GLIDE I THOUGHT ABOUT SELLING IT IT IS A TCI STREET FIGHTER WITH MANUAL VALVEBODY AND DEEP ALUMINUM PAN WITH SCATTER SHIELD. THE ENGINE HAS RAN 1.56 60 FOOTS IN A 77 FIREBIRD IN FRONT OF A TH350. IM OPEN FOR IDEAS I JUST WANT TO GET IT TO BREAK INTO THE TENS . I HAVE A 5000 ATI LINED UP IF I SELL GLIDE THANK YOU |
Last I checked, both have a 1 to 1 final ratio. Try a 4.56, it will put you about 6900, and converter depends on the engine specs.

I think that 5000 stall behind the glide would work better...
|
I'd keep the glide and change the rear gear .
|
i will probably change gear to a 4.56 and up converter to 5000+. i have a few engine mods in mind for the winter . up compression and step up the cam a bit in duration and lift.
thanks for the advise |
I agree with the others on this site, Increase your stall and change your rear gear to a 4.56. Really I think if you increased your tire to 30 inch and your rear gear to a 4.88 would even be better. A taller slick seems to work better if you have the gear to pull it. Remember you make et in the first 330ft. The higher stall and gear should be worth 3 to 4 tenths, and you can probably tune 2 more to get you in the 10s. The turbo 350 does have a lower low gear but its much heavier and robs more hp than a powerglide.
good luck |
