motor pops through the exhaust
 

trying to time my motor ,but it kee4ps popping through the exhaust.
big block ford 460,any help would be appreciated

If You think the timing is close, 1st thing I would do is compression check it to see if anything is funny in the valve train. 8)

i got 220lbs of cylinder pressure

220 lbs on all 8 cyl??? I would pop the valve covers off and see if any rockers are loose to indicate a prob with cam or lifters.

My 468 chevy was popping through the exhaust, I took the valve cover off and found about a quarter of an inch valve lash. This was the result of a broken lifter that wiped the cam lobe...

hey josh everything was fine in the valve train, it wound up being my cap & rotor. thanks for your input.
