Oil Pan gasket blow out SBF...need advice
Hey guys I got a 408 Stroker, that the rear oil pan seal keeps blowing out. Any suggestions? Normally aspirated 950 Flowtech carb, headers, 600 lift cam with a Super Victor intake.
Thanks! |
is the pcv valve clogged? if the block builds up to much pressure it can blow seals.

Kinda doubt that a 406 stroker with a 950 carb will have a PCV on it.
If you're using the chrome style breathers with the foam in them, try and blow through them with your mouth. Chances are they've filled with oil or condensation and are clogged. Of course, you would think that it would blow out the dipstick tube first depending on whether the end of the tube is submerged or not. |
Thanks...I'll check the breathers. No PCV valve. Nothing much is left stock on this thing.

Definetly sounds like your pressurizing your crankcase with blow by. A crankcase evac sysytem will help a ton. A quick fix is two vented breathers on the vavle covers.

IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT SOME KIND OF VENT THEN YOU ARE BUILDING UP TOO MUCH PRESSURE!!!!!!!!!!-----LIVELY

I have two vents coming off the valve covers, with hoses going down into the inner fenderwells. Is this enough, or do I need to hook them into the headers? If I do, it looks like there is a bung already on the headers. Can I just drill and tap that? They are Hooker Super Comps. Suggestions are welcome.
Oh yeah....any suggestions on a quality oil pan gasket? |
