SHORT FILL SBC

I am building a 383 chevy 600+hp and 250 shot block has been completely gone over and 4 bolt main and machined for main straps. My question is do I need to short fill the block and how do I go about it. The car will be driven on street once in while.

If your driving it on the street at all do not use block filler!

Fill the block up to the bottom of the frost plug holes on the side of the block.

+1...

Make sure you do one side at a time and level the deck before filling.

You will also want to do this before you have the block bored/honed. Once the filler cures, it can slightly distort the bore.

At 600 horse you should use splayed caps as the splayed caps go out into the pan rails instead of putting all the strain on just the webbing of the mains.
