12v to 16v

Hi All
I believe this been discuss before converting to 16v and know I will need a 16v battery and charger.
Just can't find the original discussion now.
Will I need to change current alternator to a 16v alternator?
And what about the water pump and fans.
I'm thinking this should be OK and the 16V will run them faster.
Is this correct?

Thanks

When converting to a 16V system, the alternator situation is usually the key point people miss. In most cases you’ll need a proper 16V alternator or a regulator setup designed for 16V charging, because a standard 12V alternator won’t charge the system correctly or may overwork itself trying. As for accessories like water pump and fans, most 12V units will run faster on 16V, but that’s not always a good thing—they https://rocketspin-au.com can overheat, wear out quicker, or move air less efficiently outside their design range. It’s generally safer to run dedicated 16V-rated components or use voltage reducers where needed. The system needs to be planned as a whole rather than just “upgrading voltage.
