Trying to get in the 6's (1/8th Mile)
 

I have a Oldsmobile omega with a 431 big block Chevy it's has 4.88 gears Powerglide trans and a 8' ati converter. Also running 275 gen 1 drag radials. Best pass has been 7.19@95 mph had a 1.58 60ft.
Somebody has suggested changing the gear to a 4.10 or buying a new converter. Combo did go 6.60s in a big tire car and the other car was heavier.

I don't think changing to a 4.10 gear is the right way to go in the 1/8 mile unless you are running out of RPM or spinning a lot. Since you have an ATI converter, I would confer with them on maybe tuning the converter to your combo. That car should be low 1.40 60 ft.
