octane question 93 what compression ratio will it work with
I am in the process of getting the compression ratio, but let me ask you guys this question
alum headed 396 .040 roller motor with today,s gas 93 octane what type of compression ratio will 93 octane support. I am selling the car and do not know the exact compression ratio yet and the potential buyer is interested to know and so am I. Any tips of figuring out the ratio ? thanks jeff m 708-308-0282 |
11 to 1

depending on the heads aluminum allow .5 to 1 more on pump gas

11-1 is definitely doable but your cam selection is critical at the compression and using 93 octane. Dynamic compression can run up higher than static compression depending on overlap, duration, etc... Quench is another area that can alter how much compression you can run on that octane.

octane
I knew I would get legit responses, I was sorta in that range of 11 to 1, now I need to get the compression figured out. Is measuring cyclinder pressure a fair way/decent start. How can we tell compression if we do not know the components and milling etc. CC size etc. Thanks for the info
