Throttle restrictors HELP
Does anyone know where I can find some device to restrict the movement of my throttle. I am trying to run a series that does not allow Throttle stops or any electronics. The only way I can see to run this is to restrict the operation of my throttle. I have seen a couple for 4150 and 4160 carbs but I have a dominator and need to come up with something in 2 weeks.
ANY IDEAS ???????????????? |
I'd fab an adjustable stop under the throttle pedal......

I seen a BBC Camaro this past weekend at the track it was a 427.
Not sure what was all in the motor but sitting on top was a Holley 2bbl... It had a homemade wooden spacer under it. So I had to ask the guy why and he said he runs the 6.50 index (1/8th) and needed to slow the car down..It had been running 6.50's all day long... |
Restrictor plate under the carb. Easy to make you will just have to do some testing on sizing.

A guy I know just runs a bolt on his carb linkage, It prevents the carb from going to WOT. He adjusts it to his dial-in, and is very consistant.

Make an adjustable stop for your pedal. Use a piece of all thread, with some jam nuts. You can than Control how quick the car runs by adjusting the length. DO NOT USE A RESTRICTOR PLATE UNDER THE Carburetor. They cause distrabution problems.

the adjustable bolt under the pedal works well.. When we ran SC back in the 90's there was an altered (injected BBC) and he used the same set up... He had it down that 1 full turn was .007 in ET

I had good results with a vac carb and a screw to limit the sec opening, I had very good success with restrictor plates under the 2" spacer with out any bad effects and now I have Hilborn Stacks with the bolt deal in the acc petal and it is very easy to adjust. Later J. Smith 4621 racing sometime :D
