alcahol jetting

I am new to alcohol on our car. We have a 350 engine hyd cam small valve 305 heads that runs 7.40s. We tried a Phillip Bailey 750 carb this weekend the car ran fine but didn't pick up as we thought it might. We had 148 jets with power valve plugged and the car felt lazy off the line but started running on down the track. I was thinking of going smaller on the jetting. What is considered a good range to work with. And how much of a change does it take to see a difference. We were running a 650 carb with a Proform center section 70 Main jets with a power valve and 80s in the secondary.

carb

148 jets are way to big. I ran a Holley 950 alcohol carb with the power valves blocked off and ended up with 132 jet size (148 were stock with the power valves) and it ran great. Exhaust temp at 1160. Try going down 10-15 jet sizes and watch your egt.
