Need help with my new BBC (carb and jets)
 
I have a simple question for you carb. guy's, I have a 3600lbs 1966 Chevelle bracket car, 468, 13.7 comp, .697-.731 roller cam, Edelbrock 315 aluminum heads, turbo 400, 5500 ATI, 5.38 gear and 10.5X33W tires. I ran it at a small track (330ft) with a 750 holley. I know its not enough but thats all I had to run at the time. I now have a BG 1050 Dominator and I was wondering around what jets to start with???? It ran 4.30 (330ft) but only had a 1.49 60ft. Car runs real clean and was no misses, pops, nothing of the sort....... I also have a Holley Pro Dominator intake with 2 750's, what jets are recomended on that to start with?????

And it should run 4.0's at this track.

I would jet the thing square at whatever jets came in it stock, which should be 88 I think... and go from there.

I know my 8896 was 88 new but yours might be different...maybe call BG??

I bought this carb off my friends car, I saw it run and have race against it for years. I too the bowls off and it has 84 front and rear. He bought it new and it had 86 F&R then????? I have only seen the come with 88's though???

On a BG start with the factory jets. Find the model #, here is the chart.

silly question, but what do the plugs look like after a full pass. You need to shut the car down at the end of the track and pull it back to read them.
another thing to look at is fuel volume, just because you put a larger carb does not mean your system can feed it. There is a fuel vs hp formula at BG's web site. it can lep you figure out if you are giving the carbs enough fuel.
