Need source for brake drum, Ford 9" with Chevy bolt pat
I picked up a big bearing Ford 9" (60 to 72) and the drums are too thin to surface plus I was going to have to redrill to Chevy pattern.
I have been looking over the internet but can't come up with a source. I figured one of you guys has done it already! Thanks, Dave |
I put disc on mine. Wilwood can give you a rotor with 6 lug pattern for a 9".
I called Strange and ask for tech and a women answered the phone. (this is usually not a good sign for me) I ask her did they have a rear disc brake with a 6 lug bolt pattern for a Ford 9". She told me they had 5 holes for a Ford, but I'll ask one of the guys if we can drill another hole in it. I thought (bad assumption) whoever she was gonna ask may realize what I wanted and help me. She then told me they could not drill an extra hole it! I just laughed hung up and called Wilwood and got my brakes within a few days!! |
Dave,
That would be a really easy job for about any machine shop. If you were closer I would do it for you. Takes about 30 minutes. Curtis |
Thanks for the hints.
More data: The Ford is the 5-1/2 x 5 pattern and I need to go to 5 x 4-3/4. Dave |
Most of the time i use a old axle as a guide centered in the brake drum and drill the holes.

They sell a plastic template.

Thanks guys... Dave
