427 BBC crank making contact with piston
I am doing rebuild on a friends engine and after removing the oil pan I noticed the #6 piston on the bottom , looks like it was making contact with the crank. It is only on one piston and I thought it was very odd.
The contact is minimal but worrying. I checked the rod bearing thinking maybe if it was worn out the extra play would make it hit the crank , but it was still in good condition. I also took a good look at the rod pin bearing and it looked fine also. Anybody ever experiance anything like this before ??? Any help appreciated. Thanks Al |
Is it possible this engine has been rebuilt before and the marks could be from a bearing issue earlier? Did they make mention of any noises to you before you tore it down?

TIP
I HAVE SEEN THEM DO THAT WITH A BENT ROD.... GOOD LUCK
