slick treatment

Anyone ever hear of putting a coating of dish soap inside of your slicks to prolong there life?

The soap is to seal the slick so it can be run tubeless. Don't see how it would prolong life of the tire.

Nothing to do with longer tire life. The dish soap gets in the porosity of the thin sidewall and hopefully slows or prevents the normal slow leak down of racing slicks run tubeless. This needs to be done right when you mount the tire on the rim because the air pressure needs to drive the wet soap in the tire to seal it up. I used to do it and I think it slowed the pressure loss in the tire during the day at the track, when I ran small MT and Phoenix brand tires.

i can see it now some guy shutting down the track with soap all over the track LOL!!!!!

The soap dries in the tires. You just coat the inside of the tire with a thin coat to help seal it. I also used Ivory , doesn't harm the tire.

Yes the dishsoap slows air loss. Mine would be flat in a week. Now when i checked them last it had been over 3 months and were still holding air.

The slicks I have now hold air for a long time.I have never had them off since I bought the car. Will be putting on my new slicks soon, will be giving them the treatment.
