Chevy Big Block 427 Crankshaft
I have a Chevy big block crankshaft I may sell. It is casting #7115 indicating it is a forged steel 5140, cross-drilled and nitrided, 3.76 stroke. It has been reground .010 under on the mains and rod journals. It needs to be cleaned up and polished. Anyone have an idea what it may be worth? This crank was used in the L88 and ZL1 motors among others. Thanks!

427 crank
few people are building a 427 comination. just try buy pistons. but for the guys wanting a correct crank, not a 396-402, its a good piece. I sold the last one for 350. it eas like new. just my 2cts.

J-E stocks the pistons in both a flat top and dome, closed or open chamber heads. The last 427 crank I sold went for $500.00 Bill

Its worth whatever someone will give you for it, lol. I know that sounds like a smarta** answer, but its really the truth. We have 3 of those cranks, and, no one wants them. The local crankshaft shop, that grinds cranks for about 99% of the engine shops in town, plus all over the country, says its worth $150 as a core. I would think, with a fresh grind, that $300 would be a food price for that crank.

crank
Saw a speed shop that had new GM forged 427 nitrided cranks last summer for $189. I think you would be hard pressed to get $150 for one that's .010 under. But you truly can get whatever someone will pay.
Just my opinion, Dan |

Just my opinion, Dan I personally know someone who runs them in a S10 blown alky with 20 to 30% nitro and run in the low 4's with the stock crank. How do i know this? Because i have personally double keyed 3 for him in the last year. If you have some for sale let me know, PM me. Zip. |
