Can a 13:5 comp. motor survive on E85??
 

I have a 575 stroker and its in a pro streeter, 13:5 comp. Dart Big m Dart 320 heads etc. Want to do some street driving with it. Can e85 handle this? I have started it on VP 112, but its $8.00 a gallon and not readily available. I know I will have to get the carb redone or buy one for e85.
Any input (wisdom) would be greatly appreciated.

SURE WILL!
I have Guys that I race with that are running as much as 15.1.The best thing to do is get a Fuel Checker,there about 16.00 that way you can check the Fuel as you get it?The ONLY Time I have seen Low Fuel readings is in the Winter with the Winter Blend being as low as E-76.
What I do is get 2 Clean Drums and go to the Station,check the Fuel,if Its above E-85 then start filling a Drum,you can check it as your Filling to Insure the Grade stay Constant!

I built a 454 for my street car out of a rotating assembly I had laying around..it is 13 to 1 gonna run E85

not a pro on this ,but here is the kinds of things I have heard
about 30 % more fuel consumpion
carbs need to be modified,both gaskets and sizing
can handle high compression motor no problem
the same motor on racing fuel will make more power on E85 if all is done right, some say up to 25 %. ????
may need to run larger fuel lines and pumps need to compatible with E85
some guys around here are making great hp with them
I may put my chevelle on an E85 diet, but I still like the smell of racing fuel and we have a speedway that sells 110 leaded racing fuel for 5.99/gal
it,s your call. It can handle the compression and should run a little cooler also
