building first bbc for strip. have some head questions

Hi,
I just bought some bbc heads and block to build for strip. the heads are 3931063- 1969 models. they have 2.06 intake - 1.72 exhaust. they are oval port closed chambers. I want to build a motor for my 2650 pound camaro that seems to eat small blocks. I am starting fresh with no parts except these. are these heads worth building? aluminum is out for now. what kind of power can these make? any good combos? I have the steel crank and the block (427). what can be done to these heads? I would like to run 6.80 ish without turning to death. car has 5.56 or so gears, and is an eighth miler.
thanks

you will need to have them opened up to the larger 2.19 valves. You would really be better off finding some 049 or 781 castings if you ar gona go the oval port cast iron route. They are still small valved but have the better chamber design. They are fairly cheap if you can find em....but still by the time you get em all done up you could almost buy some aftermarket heads. A 427 can be wound up pretty tight with good parts.

i agree with the 049 heads, my 454 had crappy heads that weighed as
much as the motor, bought some old 049 heads from racing junk and
was surprised to find out how light the heads were compared to the
junk heads that were on it, but i ended up buying some new bare
canfield heads, the 049 heads sit in the storage room with the new
rev valves 2.25, 1.19 valves new in box for the 049 heads have not
had time to put them on classifieds, good luck 8)
