Question on IHRA

Does anyone run an IHRA track that doesn't have a current IHRA or and NHRA certifaction. I allowed my driver lic. and chassis certifaction to expire in April 2010, because our track (Twin Cities Monroe La. closed in 2009 a NHRA track) and since Memphis will be reopening in 2011, i may go there to run since i have another residence within 50 miles of the track. My car will pass certs to 8.50 anywhere, but just curious if the car has to have current certs to run at any of their tracks.

It will depend on tech but its rare to have them not check for a chassis tag the first time you go there. I've ran a lot of IHRA tracks and always been checked.

Now i know the other track i race at does not require cert to run :!: They don't even look at your car :!: Sign in give them money and run :!: It is a IHRA track :!:

I run a couple of IHRA Pro-Am events each year with out an IHRA cert. at all. My car runs 5.60's in the 1/8th flat out. But the Super Rod index is 6.40 and IHRA doesn't require a cert until you go below 6.00.

What tech? A helmet and the windows up are it at my local track, as long as you pay cash...

I feel you are taking your life into others hands at places like this. When I'm lined up beside another racer I want to know that his equipment is as safe as possible. JMO.

The reason i ask is when Monroe was open they did look the cars over pretty good if they ran below 6.00, but like i said in the top thread, my car will certify to 8.50 anywhere, (all updated in 2008), it just doesn't have a current tag. I don't see a reason to get both an IHRA and a NHRA tag @ $250.00 each when most of the tracks around here and in Ms. are outlaw tracks, but i will probably show up at Memphis in 2011, but probably not at a national event.

Thanks for the input.

Hey Zip, Twin City is opening back up. Petey Griggs and Tad Gates bought the track and are looking at late March to open. They have a face book page.

$250 each? You can get NHRA here for $150. Sometimes they give the inspector $30 for off site inspections so $180 total.

We have a track that just went IHRA and they said it's $75 for a chassis cert.
