torque converter problems??

I need some advice on a car we are running. It is a 66 chevelle full frame car , 2800 lbs.
We recently changed the 427 bbc blown gas to a 565 bown gas and had a hp change of 350 -400 hp.
Car launces ok, immediatly shifts all the way into 3rd ( turbo 400 ) and runs the rest of the way down the track, I had uped the shift point to 7800 with no change.
I'm thinkin the torque converter is just not holding that power and lettin the engine spin up to it's shift point. What do you guys think, P.S. the torque on the engine is 1120 ft lbs, 1196 hp
Al

Most of the people i know are running a 10" converter on the high HP applications including myself on the blown s/blk, because as you said the 8" just can't hold the HP.

just my .02

Zip.
