ladder bar rear rodends?????
i posted a tread the other day about my rearend got some good advice, so guys i could use some more. car currently has 3/4x3/4 heims in the front and 3/4x5/8 soild in the rear. its a older A.R.T. set-up. preseason maintence i want to change everything to good 4130 chrome moly rodends. is it good idea to up size to 3/4x3/4 all 6? can i just drill the rearend housing to 3/4? car weighs 2615 and runs 8.90-9.00. also ordered a new track locater bar thats going to be 7/8 chrome moly with 7/16x 7/16 left and rights. is that bigger enough? thanks mike

A 3/4" shank x 5/8" hole 4130 XM seriers rod end from Aurora is rated at 40,572 lbs and the 3/4" x 3/4" is rated at 28,081 lbs static load so I wouldn't change the size in the rear.

Drilling out 5/8 to 3/4 is not an easy task. Doorracer is right on...

There really is no need for heim ends on a ladder bar. I prefer to use a solid rod end all the way around myself. More moving parts equals more points of possible failure in my eyes.

well i ordered the solid 3/4x5/8 for the rear and 3/4x3/4 4130 heims for the front from rick jones. thanks guys for all the help. mike

If your bars don't have them it is a good idea to add the safety loops on the front ends.

If you use a panhard bar, himes front and back will free up the up and down movement some because the housing needs side to side movement as it moves up and down.If you use a bar between the ladder bars you only need himes on the front.solids on the front will bind up and down movement.Bill.
