Heads for 496

I'm in the middle of building my first 496 and not sure what aluminum head to use. I was looking at the brodix race rite oval just not sure of the price. Are these good heads or could anyone recomend something better that they have used?

thank you

What is this motor's intended purpose? More info needed on specs too, I>E. compression, cam, carb etc.

The bb2 x's are just about perfect for a deep breathing 496

it's going to around 10.5 to 1. victor jr intake, guy that is building it told me to stay with my 750 dp, cam still unsure had custom grind hyd cam done but thats before i decided to go with a 496. think i'm going with a roller if money will allow. will be street/strip rpm range not over 6200. still new to building bbc. It's going in a 74 TA

any kind of help is appreciated
thank you

Those race rites flow really well, but not as good as advertised. I would get either Summit brand iron or Eddy's RPM-R heads. Get a cam with 260/270 duration numbers and 108 LSA. With that intake and compression looking at around 600+ HP. Will need a bigger carb though.

id recommend a 305 to 325 intake runner size.check ebay for "BBC HEADS" you can get a set pretty cheap.looks like your probably not going to be putting 600 hp nitrous load or equivilent extra cylinder pressure into the thing so id do the ebay.DONT BUY USED PARTS THOUGH!!!!buy new only!!!or learn the hard way,can i get an amen>>????lol.

cam with 260/266 at .050 will put you near your power band.call comp cams when ordering one.only thing that sux is comp doesent have many bbc cams off the shelf with 260 duration familys for bbc.maybe try chet herbert for a cam.he has a good selection and roller sticks are at 200 bucks.

Why only 6200?

I shift at 6200...makes parts last longer.....and I'm a coward  Big BOOMS are $$$$$ :D

I would use a 4150 style carb in the 1050 size as a minimum. 750 is WAY too small for that cubic inch.
