world products bbc merlin heads

I bought a used set of world products merlin heads casting # 1-043b and I cant find any info on them what so ever, anybody ever heard or used these babies?
They are cast iron rectangler intake ports and have D shaped exhaust ports the intake valves are huge and look like 230's
Just wondering what the intake port volume might be, I got a good deal on them and plan on using them on my 13 to 1 compression 496 bbc but I'd still like to know what the specs are before I throw some money at them. Any help on the info would be appreciated.
Thx, Charles

That # looks very familiar. If my memery serves me right those are the same set of heads that i had awile ago. They are the early Merlin VR 345 cc intake runner.

i run a set of those heads on my 468 2.250 intake and 1.880s they are very good with a little work i run 10.30s@3600 lbs on 12.5 comp 468

you know running a 13:1 comp you should think about using
aluminum, you'll need all the coolness you can get with that
high of compression, i was running 10:75 to 1 and ran hot
with iron heads, purchased aluminum and it fixed the problem
just letting you know the problem i had, good luck

well I was wanting aluminum but my budget just couldn't bare it right now, maybe in the future I can upgrade. These are some awesome heads. I had them checked out by a local machine shop they have the 230 intakes valves, 1.88 exhaust. 345 cc intake runners, 1.625 springs, manley titainum retainers and they also came with J & D machine shaft mount roller rockers. I got everything for 750 dollars plus shipping, so I got a great deal. I'm getting them decked and having a them cut the o ring grooves alittle deeper and a vavle job while their at it. I dont think I'l be having a cooling problem I got big aluminum radiator, and I'm only gonna be running a short 1/ 8 mile track no street use at all. My friend has some similar world bbc heads except they are the grumpy jenkins version and he has same exact set up as me a 13 to 1 pistons in a 496 and his has never run hot, in fact we have a hard time getting it to warm up on a cool night. after burn out and running down the track in this 100 degree heat its only 180 to 190 at the end of the track.
Thx for the replies, Charles

I had the 1-043c which are the 310cc and had 2.300, and the 1-043b are 345cc runners but I am not sure of the valve sizes. I called World and they gave me my specs for my heads. Give them a call. They should work pretty good on your 496. Good luck.

Had a buddy years ago with a set of these (no work, straight out of the box as I remember) on his 467 BBC in his '68 Camaro. 12.5:1 TRW's, .714 lift solid roller, 1050 Dom. carb.
Ran 10.50's in the quarter on the biggest, fattest M/T street tires they had at the time. Although they are a bit heavy, they are great heads!
