can you run braided line from the master cylinder or do they have to be steel?

Braded is OK, after all that's what you run to the front calipers.

I would use a hard line from the master cylinder, then braided line out to the caliper (from the frame). Too much braided line is a bad thing.......

Jeff Too much braided line will cause a spongy pedal. Stay with as much hard line as you can

X2 Use the hardline as far as practical but use enough braided to ensure enough slack between frame and caliper to prevent strain and or tire/chassis rubbing.

Hard line is cheaper,lighter and longer lasting. The flexible parts are just necessary evils.
