does anyone do powdercoating at home
 

im just starting to get into hotcoating and im wanting to build a bake oven and just wondering if anyone has built there own oven maybe i can get sosme pointers on how to built a electric one .

I use an old electric oven someone gave me , works great just limited to what fits in it is all....valve covers , rims,, intakes are not a problem ..

Not to get off the subject, but what temp does it have to be? I thought it was around 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Curing

When a thermoset powder is exposed to elevated temperature, it begins to melt, flows out, and then chemically reacts to form a higher molecular weight polymer in a network-like structure. This cure process, called crosslinking, requires a certain degree of temperature for a certain length of time in order to reach full cure and establish the full film properties for which the material was designed. Normally the powders cure at 200°C (390°F) in 10 minutes. The curing schedule could vary according to the manufacturer's specifications

havent assembled a powder coating oven. but i have assembled a down draft paint booth for a bodyshop and the main thing will be the electrial (paint booth has pain in azz cuase you got all the air filter and electrical pus every thing has to be seal up air tight) just make sure that everything level and square

i to use the old electric stove in the back for baking parts and it
works well for the parts that fit in there, good luck bud :wink:

I powdercoated an AR15 receiver in the oven. Boy, was my wife mad.
